I was born on 4th March in Mofolo near Johannesburg, which is today Soweto. I speak Xhosa, Sotho, Zulu and also English. I had to leave South Africa when I was young, but spent the next many years travelling around the world, singing with the world's best jazz singers and spreading the truth about South Africa. The many countries, even the United States, would not accept me for my beliefs about civil rights for my people, in my country. So, I turned my attention to my dear continent of Africa.
